The critical strains in the pavement system are also displayed on the Critical Microstrains (T-, C+) tab at the bottom of the Results tab. As indicated in the title of this tab, tensile strains are listed as negative and compressive strains are listed as positive. The values are listed in terms of microstrain (10^-6 x strain). These values are commonly used in pavement design as input to rutting or fatigue models. All quantities are obtained from nodal values directly beneath the centerline of the applied loads (i.e. at the intersection at the planes of symmetry). A value of strain or displacement can be obtained at any point in the modeled pavement system by using either of the graphical plotting options, so these values are only supplementary.
