There are plenty of ways to get
involved with the ASCE student chapter at UMaine. First-year
students are encouraged to get involved early - as soon as you get
here!
|
|
| - Weekly lunchtime meetings featuring guest
speakers, including engineering professionals and fellow students
with work experience. These are a great way to learn more
about exciting and practical aspects of civil engineering, and the
pizza is a plus! |

Civils at the Spring picnic make a structurally sound
pyramid. |
| - Team-oriented activities
like Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge. UMaine has a great
history when it comes to these activities, and team members have a
great time planning, building, and competing. Benefits to
participation include hands-on experience, interaction with
knowledgeable upperclassmen, opportunity to travel and meet students
from other schools, and a good time! |

Salt Lake City! |
| - Service projects on and around campus.
Members of the student chapter often volunteer their time and skills
to the community. ASCE has recently built wheelchair ramps,
renovated The Chez, and refurbished a sculpture. |

New tables were built for The Chez. |
| - CIE 1000. This
"class" is offered nearly every Friday night at one of the local
establishments. Students and faculty members get together at
the end of the week for good food and entertainment, and great
company! Make sure you remember to fit it in to your schedule! |
